For a long time considered the home of Portuguese golf., the Algarve region was made famous by the great British golfer, Sir Henry Cotton, who moved to the Algarve and designed and had constructed what is now called the Sir Henry Cotton Championship course at Pennina in 1966.  Since then, golf in the Algarve has grown so there are now  31 courses in the region. The area is serviced by Faro airport which most carriers fly into. It’s not a big area and all golf is quite accessible from anywhere within region. There are considered 3 regions within the Algarve: Central, West, and East.
