La Manga Club – Golf Courses
Each of La Manga Club’s three 18-hole championship courses has been designed to offer you a unique challenge, playing over different terrain in varied but always beautiful and tranquil surroundings, all no more than a “short putt” from your accommodation. And if you want to work on your short game, the picturesque 18-hole Par 47 course is just the place.
La Manga Club South Course
18 holes, par 73
Designer: Robert D. Putman / Arnold Palmer
White Tees 6,499mts Yellow Tees 6,127mts Blue Tees 5,739mts Red Tees 5,139mts
Originally designed by Robert Putman in 1971 and remodelled in 1992 by Arnold Palmer, La Manga Club’s South Course was completely refurbished in 2004.
The Championship course at La Manga Club, the South, is probably one of the fairest tests of golf one can find. At 6,499 metres from the back tees its accepted as a top-calibre championship course, also provides a thorough test both for the scratch player and right across the handicap range.
Located in the centre of the valley, with wide palm-fringed fairways and water hazards that come into play on 15 of the 18 holes, the South Course holds few hidden dangers.
The carefully positioned water hazards and bunkers will certainly punish any wayward shots. The front nine are particularly tough, with two par 3’s over 200 metres and some daunting par 4’s which will demand accurate driving between lakes and bunkers, requiring long irons or fairway woods to the green. The back nine, although shorter, has a number of intriguing dog-leg holes. Special attention should be given to both the 11th and 12th holes, which demand precise club selection to greens across water.
The South Course has been the venue for many major professional tournaments; both ladies’ and men’s Spanish Opens, PGA Championships and Qualifying Schools for both the men’s and ladies’ European Tours. In addition, it remains the firm favourite of many companies throughout the world as the perfect venue for their corporate events.
La Manga Club North Course
18 holes, Par 71
Designer: Robert D. Putman
White Tees 5753 Yellow Tees 5429 Blue Tees 5183 Red Tees 4964
An undulating championship course sprawling between palm trees, lakes and ‘barrancas’. These natural storm gullies feature on all three golf courses and add an extra dimension to the game.
Slightly shorter than the South, with tighter fairways and larger greens, the North Course offers a different, yet no less challenging, round of golf. All of the greens are built to USGA specification, although large targets the skill comes in reading the break in them, none more so than the short Par 3, 2nd, which has three distinct plateaux – a great test of putting. Relying on precision rather than length, an added challenge is provided by the wide variety of water hazards and ‘barrancas’ that snake their way through the course.
The North Course is sure to provide a stern test of shot making from golfers of all standards. A deft touch is also required on greens.
La Manga Club West Course
18 holes, Par 72
Designer: Dave Thomas
White Tees 5770 m Yellow Tees 5533 m Blue Tees 5130 m Red Tees 4724 m
Winding through the natural pine woodlands, the West Course’s design closely follows the natural contours of the undulating land. Its distinct character makes it a good alternative to the other, more classical championship courses.
It is a deceiving course, with frequent changes in elevation with which to contend. The tight front nine demands accurate driving to avoid the ‘barrancas’ (natural storm gullies) while the back nine, up amongst the hills, is more open but nonetheless challenging.
The West is many golfers’ favourite, both because of its unique setting and outstanding views and because of the challenge offered by its narrow fairways, frequent blind shots and the gullies which snake through the course. The breathtaking views, undulating fairways and fast greens make this course particularly exciting to play. Accuracy and good golf course management as opposed to length are very much the skills required to shoot a good score.
La Manga Club Pitch & Putt Course
18 holes, par 47
Designer: Severiano Ballesteros
Great for sharpening your short game skills, this picturesque course comes complete with bunkers and water hazards and offers practice and enjoyment for the whole family.
The greens are beautifully manicured, with some subtle breaking putts. The Par 3s are particularly well designed, with excellent greens for putting, real bunkers and light rough around three holes. Handicap golfers will find plenty of opportunity to work on their short game skills and many find scoring the par 47 shots more challenging than expected. In addition to all this, the course is superbly landscaped with tropical palms and parkland trees, creating some great photo opportunities.
Add to this our two crazy golf courses, one located alongside the Junior Club and the other at Las Lomas Village and even the youngest members of the family need not miss out on the pleasures of golf at La Manga Club. Remember, it’s never too early to get them started on what could become a life-long addiction to the game or even a professional career!
Located beside the golf clubhouse, our training and practice facilities are second to none and provide a comprehensive short-game facility including:
- An 80-bay, floodlit driving range, complete with target greens
- A large practice bunker
- Two chipping greens
- A large putting green
- Practice balls are dispensed from machines at the driving range. Cards for these may be purchased at Golf Administration or you can pay by credit card directly at the machine
- An 18-hole, Par 47, pitch & putt course (located near the Tennis Centre). This picturesque course comes complete with bunkers and water hazards, offering ideal practice after the morning class.

What is a Spa experience at La Manga Club ?
The spa tradition – taking the waters or bathing in mineral or hot springs in order to cure illness and relax – goes back to Roman times and before. But what is the modern spa experience all about?.Today there are many different types of spa – mineral spring spas, resort spas, medical spas etc – but all share one common aim: to promote wellness, so that you leave feeling better, much better than when you came.
Looking at it another way, most of us regularly spend time and money on preventive maintenance for our cars but perhaps not so readily on ourselves. The spa experience could be considered just that a preventative maintenance for the body and mind. An investment in your wellbeing.
The starting point may be a massage or a bath, designed to soothe away physical aches and pains and release the mind from day-to-day concerns. Time to yourself, time to enjoy, time to unwind… These are also crucial to the overall experience. The spa experience is also about being looked after and about looking after you. Discovering simple habits and rituals that you can continue in your everyday life and which will become part of your own healthy lifestyle. At Spa La Manga Club, our aim is to help you discover the benefits of the spa experience and for you to take some of the wellness philosophy back home.
