None of the Algarve golf courses are more than 15 kilometres from the coast but the terrain varies from steep hillsides around Parque da Floresta to near sea-level flatlands of Salgados and Vilamoura III, which, together with Palmares, includes links holes.

You may find it puzzling that the mainly dry and arid countryside of the Algarve gives way to verdant oasis at each golf complex. This is due to water catchments and private boreholes which tap into subterranean water sources for irrigation.

The Algarve is home to several of the world’s top courses and has played host to many competitions and international tournaments. Away from the Algarve the Lisbon area of Portugal provides a fascinating alternative. It provides quality golf courses on the Estoril golf coast, superb scenic areas such as the Sintra hills a world heritage site, the history and architecture of Lisbon, Portugal’s capital city. Direct flights from London & Manchester with TAP make this area easy to access and with a short 20km transfer of the capital the Estoril coast is the perfect place to discover, play and relax.
