With so many middle eastern airlines in operation the gulf states are a serious holiday destination. The combination of world class hotels, superb sporting and leasuire facilities and the promise of year round sun have made this region a popular short break destination from the uk as well as a perfect stopover location to break-up those long flights to the Far East.
Dubai
25 years ago Dubai was a small developing town based around the port area of the creek. Now its has become one of the fastest growing cities of the world. The shopping here is still out of this world but not as cheap as it was a few years ago. Expect superb hotels and service as a norm. A full holiday infostructure has developed over the years and you can now take a trip in a 4×4 in the desert in the morning and ski in the snowdome in the evening.
Oman
Oman in contrast to the UAE cities is less developed and in many regions has retained the charm and life of the middle east, its Indian ocean coast contrasts the arrid mountain backdrop.
Abu Dhabi
Quickly catching Dubai as the most cosmipolitan of the UAE cities. Abu Dhabi is the capital of the UAE and houses many of the regions financial instituitions. It has managed to retain more of its original buildings than Dubai and houses over 200 parks and gardens in the city, but the same modern hotels and high rise buildings are quickly dominating the skyline.
Egypt
A county filled with history, discover the Pyramids and the Museum in Cairo, Visit the Valley of the Kings or Karnak Temples in Luxor. Cruise up the Nile to Aswan and relax in a luxurious hotel in the Red sea resorts.
